WHAT PROVINCE, WHAT BEER? Did you know that all beer sold in Ontario is made with barley imported from Western Canada or from other countries? It has actually been over 30 years since a beer was brewed with locally grown barley. Thankfully the wait is over. The Arrow Neighbourhood Pub Group, which has long promoted the environmental slogan, "Think Globally, Act Locally" (actually "Drink Locally"), has launched its own draught beer. Harvest Ale is being brewed under license by Guelph's F&M Brewery. It is a very quaffable beer with a rich copper colour, full malt flavour and a perfectly balanced hop finish. Harvest Ale is a naturally made beer without any additives. And, yes, it's made with barley grown in Ontario. Enjoy the harvest in your next pint. It's Your province so why not drink Your beer!? |

WHO'S NUTS?
Not David Suzuki. He's our very own, world-renowned scientist, author and television personality. Suzuki claims that one of the most effective ways to reduce environmental damage is to buy locally made products. Many people do not realize that in North America most food has traveled 3,000 kilometers to reach consumers' plates. And, this food is largely transported by diesel run, pollution spewing trucks! Therefore, buying local helps to decrease green-house causing emissions. Our pub specializes in locally crafted foods and beverages. We feature many products grown in Ontario. Our locally grown valencia peanuts is one example. These nuts originate from the fields around Vittoria, Ontario. They are fresher and taste better than imports because they are roasted to order and don't spend their time on trucks and in warehouses waiting for distribution. So, try some local peanuts with your next pint! Who's nuts? Our nuts! - Taste the difference. |
